1952 M100 trailer build (part 1)
BERT (Beach Emergency Rescue Trailer- I made this up).
This is a collection of video clips and work completed between December 2022 and March 2023. I was deployed from May 2023 till April 2024, so not much got done and I just couldn't focus on working on a video edit.
So here we are- a year after I lost Diesel Dawg and I am officially retired from the Coast Guard after serving over 25.5 years. Onward to full time college student down at Old Dominion and stay at home dog mom. I can't wait to yell at the kids to get off my grass! (I am kidding, the dogs do this for me- they take their jobs seriously!).

1963 F100 speedway disc brake conversion
Переглядів 2793 місяці тому
May 2024- I need a new camera! the gopro5 is killing batteries left and right. Poor audio I know. I purchased the front disc brake conversion kit for my 1963 F100 thru speedway. Fairly easy installation. Took two afternoons on a sunny day in the driveway with basic tools (and pneumatic impact to save the busted shoulder). I have stock 15" innie rims on my truck. I already had a 1" bore duel mas...

Final deployment stuff- I'm done

I finished out my last 6 months away from my home. I had requested to retire in early September with a official retirement in July. They sent me to Hawaii and then on to a 4 month long deployment through the south pacific. We made it. I'm home!
Sally the ship! just quick check in
Переглядів 1356 місяців тому
just a quick check in- I am still alive. burnt like a lobstah red and sweating south of the equator. can't stay in the port we're had planned a stop in. we put crippled up lines (normal doubled up) to hold us but this port is right on the breakwater so it's a but dangerous for us to stay. use this opportunity to say hi- I am alive. 2 months till retirement leave starts!

The trailer's looking great. I hope you're enjoying yourself, you certainly deserve it. I retired in October 2023, but I'm not young and spry like you are, I'm pushing 70. All the best to you, may you have many, many years of happiness.

I like the addition of the footman loops. Makes me want to do the same with my T3-C trailer. Nicely done, looks like a good solid rig for Salty to tow. Always nice to see a matching Jeep and trailer.

LOL I have a Ford van and watch car videos... i happened to be playing Kurtis Blow this video was in my shorts and when it started playing the video and this song still was on i got so confused .. nice truck. I did a rear disc conversion on my Econoline.. probably same damn kit... uses like 70s GM calipers

Likely won't notice. Moved 1/2" off each side and I never went lock to lock while turning. It will be on road shortly. Will start on rear conversion today.

Thanks for the video. I'm sure it feels nice to put the (Retired) tag there. I retired from my (civilian) career last October. I've been getting moved, and then had some other issues, but I sure don't miss having to answer the alarm clock's call! I'm very interested in both your restorations. Thanks for sharing them with us. All the best to you.

No videos for this model of truck on the youtubes. Figured I'd do one. I will tackle the rear brakes this weekend. My pv4 valve is on its way. Been home 3 weeks. Still getting phone calls and texts from the ship. Having nightmares about being recalled to service. Retirement party was last week and a lot of people showed up from units 25 years worth! Even my first CO. Been doing ny to do list mom left me after she has been here for past 7 months. I also have a dozen different projects in some sort of completion %. I also feel like I need to rush as innthe past I had very limited time before next deployment. Need to calm down.

I'm finally starting to sleep "late." For the last fifteen years, I was up at 5:00 and out the door to work. Now, I don't even set an alarm. I'm starting to sleep until 7:30 or even 8:00! I, too, got some of the "Help me!" calls, at least the first few weeks. It felt good, but now I'm just keeping in touch by text and email. I'd help them if they needed it, but I worked with some smart and talented folks. I wish them well. Thanks again for your service, may you have many, many happy years ahead of you.

Coast Guard is fucking outstanding outfit. Worked with those cats in Al Jubail port during Desert Shield/Storm when I was with 1st MEB out of Kaneohe. The amount of dedication and “can do” was as high as I ever saw in my 12 years. USMC 81-93.

Try going down the road on a 1947 Allis Chalmers sitting on the rear diff with the engine between your legs. You see potholes coming you stand up on the axles so your legs absorb the shocks. Happy Motoring.

It is your main bearings. I had a 58 223, the mains bearing sounded just like that. I pulled the engine had it totally machined, then I was mentored in the complete rebuild. The way the crank and mains are engineered they just fail. Now, with better materials you should be able to get those bearing replaced with some very good bearing that will last.

I've been binge watching your videos and I'm impressed with your budget, availability of parts and time. I have a question with relation to this video of the primer work....how much of the tub and other parts do you think you covered with one pot of primer and how much did you fill the pot with? I'm in Australia by the way way, ex Australian Army Rifleman so much respect to a fellow veteran for bringing an old war horse back to life and serving. 👍🏻🇦🇺

Good tip here, my D41 has the same ease-of-removal issue on that inner race. I thought upsetting the material and using something like green Loctite might a good solution and since I can see someone else doing it, it's probably fine.

I know this is an older video but it's still relevant and helpful. I was wondering how I was going to create my setup bearings and had forgotten that I have a similar grinding stone for a drill. Good to see your process. I have the same fun ahead of me x2, and maybe x4 if I feel like reworking the old axles I'm replacing. (I'm late to the video for the promotion news but just in time for the retirement!)
